LA TRINIDAD, Benguet – Sixteen Benguet women on Tuesday, March 19, took their oath as Women Officials for a Day (WOFAD), taking the seats of provincial officials, as part of the Women’s Month celebration.
The oath-taking, held at the Provincial Capitol, immediately following the flag-raising ceremony, was administered by Governor Dr. Melchor Daguines Diclas, who expressed recognition on the role of women in nation-building.
Vilma Lorenzana of Tuba assumed the Provincial Governor’s seat, while Josephine Leon of La Trinidad took the position of Provincial Vice Governor.
Taking on the responsibilities of Provincial Board Members are Julie Calisen of Mankayan, Lailanie Gumpac of Sablan, Lyn Basas of Atok, Marlyn Ordanza of Buguias, Andrea Guitelen of Mankayan, Teodora Laus of Itogon, Mary Dolo of Kibungan, Maria Fauline Busil-ac of Bakun, Jacqueline Awas of Sablan, Marcela Amistad of Kabayan, Esther Carpio of Tublay, Lynlie Poncio of Kapangan, Agnes Donio of Bokod, and Diana Belino of Kapangan.
The WOFAD were selected through their respective municipal social welfare and development offices.
On the same day, over 400 women from different women’s organizations in the Province participated in the 2024 Women’s Congress which is aimed towards gender inclusivity and empowerment in Benguet. By SAP Jr.
