The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) recently announced the activities that had been lined up for the celebration of fire prevention month this March.
The said celebration will kick off with a 5-minute traditional simultaneous blowing of horns in the various fire stations around the country on March 1, 2024.
On March 4, 2024, the BFP-CAR and the Baguio City fire station will also conduct their kick off ceremony for the celebration of the fire prevention month.
The community relations week will be held on March 11-17, 2024 where the activities that will be conducted include the kiddie fire marshal on March 11 followed by fire drill in high density occupancies on March 13 and the fire square road show on March 15, 2024 that will be held at SM City Baguio.
The fire square roadshow will be held at Session Road on March 17, 2024 to serve as a reminder to the people for them to reflect on the importance of fire safety and to equip them with the knowledge and tools necessary to prevent fires from occurring in their homes, workplaces and even public spaces.
Fire Superintendent Mirasol Odiber said that from fire safety drills to educational campaigns, the BFP aims to instill a culture of vigilance and preparedness among residents.
She added that the celebration of fire prevention month allows people to honor the bravery and dedication of firefighters who selfishly put their lives on the line to protect people, thus, the BFP-CAR is proud to have been chosen as the host of this year’s National Fire Olympics on March 18-22, 2024 at the Melvin Jones grandstand which will be an exhilarating event that showcases the extraordinary skills and expertise of firefighters, fire volunteers and fire brigades from different parts of the country. It will also serve as a platform for the brave men and women from different regions to demonstrate their agility, precision and teamwork in a series of challenging competitions.
The month-long celebration will commence with the first Baguio City fire station Run for a Cause.
The city fire marshal called on everyone to work hand in hand united in a common resolve to safeguard the city from the ravages of fire and that together, people can ensure that the flame of progress and prosperity continues to bright in the community, illuminating the path towards a safer and brighter future.
