BONTOC, Mountain Province – Dialysis patients of the Bontoc General Hospital (BoGH) received cash assistance from personnel of the Provincial Government on December 12, 2023.
Governor Bonifacio C. Lacwasan, Jr. personally handed over the cash assistance to the recipients. He was accompanied by Sangguniang Panlalawigan Committee on Health Chair Joshua B. Fronda, Provincial Health Officer Caroline D. Yawan, Provincial Accountant Theodore B. Marrero and Supervising Administrative Officer Juanita Lampac.
According to Yawan, the proceeds came from the Walk for a Cause activity of the Provincial Human Resources Management Office which was conducted during the Civil Service Month and was participated in by the employees of the provincial government.
“We thank our public servants for making the event successful, and we hope this amount can help with the medication of the recipients,” Yawan said.
In addition, Fronda informed the patients that the total amount collected was PhP24,600 and will be distributed to 41 patients where they will receive PhP1,400 each. Governor Lacwasan added an amount of PhP600 pesos each, thereby increasing the amount of cash assistance to PhP2000 for each dialysis patient.
Moreover, Marrero empathized with the recipients and shared that his deceased father was a dialysis patient, and he witnessed how he fought to continue living his life. He encouraged the patients not to give up because there are people who are always willing to help them.
“What you are experiencing does not mean it is the end. There is still a long life we have to live and enjoy,” Marrero said.
Lacwasan also expressed his gratitude to the staff of the Provincial Health Office and the BoGH for their hard work, especially in keeping the dialysis center well-maintained and for providing a safe environment for the patients and that the provincial government will always find ways to provide additional assistance to the patients.
