BAGUIO CITY September 25 – A 58-year old driver died after he was stabbed by his own brother during a heated altercation that was fuelled by on old grudge at Purok 13, Irisan, here, Sunday night.
Senior Superintendent Ramil L. Saculles, City Director of the Baguio city Police Office (BCPO), identified the fatality as Michael Baguilat, 58, married, driver and residing at Purok 15, Irisan, Baguio City while he named the suspect as his own brother, Robert Baguilat, 46, married, driver and residing at Purok 7, Irisan, Baguio City.
Initial police investigation showed that the two individuals were allegedly under the influence of liquor and reportedly had an altercation along the road because of an alleged unsettled family feud.
Their heated argument reportedly resulted to a fistfight on the road and that they were able to grapple with each other until the victim was able to get a hard object and used it to hit the suspect on his head.
At this juncture, the suspect was able to get a knife from his bag and subsequently stabbed the victim on a still undisclosed part of his body.
The victim was rushed by his nephew to the Baguio General Hospital and Medical Center (BGHMC) for medical treatment but he was declared dead on arrival by attending physicians while the suspect voluntarily surrendered to responding police operatives.
The case is still subject to further investigation by the police and awaiting the decision of their families on the said matter.
