City officials recently encouraged the city’s one hundred twenty-eight barangays to designate Women Officials for a Day (WOFAD) on March 8, 2024 in celebration of Women’s month.
However, in a resolution, local legislators stated that for the initial implementation of the Women Officials for a Day, only the positions in the barangays councils shall be filled up and shall hold office on the aforesaid date.
The council passed the resolution that seeks to amend Resolution No. 143, series of 2023 that earlier encouraged the barangays to designate Women Officials for a Day on March 8, 2023 in celebration of Women’s month.
The body noted that part of the month-long activities in celebration of Women’s month 2023 in the city was the WOFAD as contained in the said resolution.
The council expressed hope that the city’s barangays will comply with the implementation of the resolution so that the same will be assessed and evaluated to serve as the basis in introducing appropriate measures to improve the WOFAD program until such time that it will be rolled out in the city government to empower women to actively participate in such activities scheduled in the future.
Women’s month is celebrated every month in time for the institutional celebration of International Women’s Day every March 8 to honor women who excel in their chosen fields of profession.
Copies of the approved resolution will be transmitted to the city’s one hundred twenty-eight barangays and other offices of the city government for their information, guidance, ready reference and further needed action. By Dexter A. See
