The City Government and the Baguio Elderly Association (BEA) awarded the two infants proclaimed as this year’s Baguio Charter Day babies.
Former councilor Narciso Padilla said one baby boy and one baby girl who were born anywhere close to midnight last Aug. 31 at the Baguio General Hospital and Medical Center were chosen by the search team led by the Office of the City Social Welfare and Development Office (OCSWADO) under OCSWAD Officer Betty Fangasan and the BEA.
Padilla said the search in the tradition of the annual Quest for the Lucky Christmas and New Year Babies was started during the City’s centennial year in 2009 to symbolize the dawning of a new year for the City.
The lucky babies, one boy and one girl, received prizes consisting of cash gift, a cavan of rice from CSWDO, baby clothes, food and goodies from the Office of the Senior Citizens Affairs, the Federation of Baguio Senior Citizens Association, Blessed Association of Retired Persons Foundation Inc. (BARP), the Philippine Government Retirees Association (PGRA), United States Army Forces in the Philippines–Northern Luzon and the Philippine Veterans Foundation Baguio District.
Awarding of the gifts was done on Sept. 2, 9 a.m. at the BGHMC.
It was part of the activities under the Baguio Day celebration.
