A total of six participants from the elementary and secondary schools received a certificate of recognition and a cash prize for having met the general criteria stipulated in this year’s Clean and Green Search Program as part of the Adivay celebration.
Ampusongan National High School-Main (ANHS-Main) emerged anew as the Cleanest and Greenest Secondary School.
ANHS-Main bested Binga National High School (Itogon) and Atok National High School (Atok) respectively in the said award.
Meanwhile, under elementary category, Aduyonan Elementary School (Atok) bagged first place, Lepanto ES (Mankayan) obtained the second place while Bot-oan ES (Buguias) was in the third place.
According to Governor Crescencio C. Pacalso, the rationale behind the program is to acknowledge the efforts being done in the microlevel – school, barangay and municipal, as regards the implementation of the different activities and programs geared towards environmental protection with the hope that it will create a ripple effect in the macrolevel.
Hence, three local government units were given recognition under the category “Search for the Best Practices on Environment Management.”
LGU-Bakun was adjudged as first place in this category while Sablan and Tublay got the second and the third place respectively.
The recipients of the program attest to the fact that environmental awareness is not the sole responsibility of the provincial government nor other government agencies but everyone has a part in the maintenance and care of the natural world.
“Our future depends on how we take care of our environment today,” Honorable Nestor B. Fongwan Jr. said during the opening program.
With this, the provincial government expressed their commitment to the annual conduct of the program to help nurture love and care for the environment and as a support to Republic Act 9003 or the Ecological Solid Waste Management Act of 2000.
The Clean and Search Awarding was participated by the school heads together with the Clean and Green coordinators and heads of offices in the LGU on Nov. 15 at Multi-purpose Gymnasium, Wangal, La Trinidad.
