City officials recently allowed the issuance of special permits to all applicants with pending applications for the issuance of business permit renewal to operate until the end of the processing of said permits in March 2024 as scheduled by the Permits and Licensing Division of the City Mayor’s office.
Under Resolution No. 675, series of 2023, local legislators stated that the assessment and payment of business permits are scheduled annually for business owners whose family or corporate names begins with letters A to H – January; I to P – February and Q to Z and those that start with numeric or special characters – March.
Earlier, the local legislative body considered the manifestations of invited resource persons relative to the requirements and procedures in the processing of building permits, occupancy permits and business permits in the city.
The council noted that numerous renewal applications for issuance of business permits are yet to be approved by the appropriate offices of the city government causing uncertainty for business owners who cannot actually operate unless they comply with the duly issued and valid business permits issued to them by the city.
The body asserted that in support of businesses and to ensure the city’s continued economic activities, the issuance of business permits in lieu of the pending applications will allow businesses to operate within the city and contribute to economic growth and development considering that the city is the trade center of the Cordillera.
Copies of the approved resolution will be transmitted to the Permits and Licensing Division of the City Mayor’s Office for information, guidance, ready reference and further needed action.
