BAGUIO CITY – City officials recently requested the City Budget Office (CBO) to appropriate funds for Ordinance No. 87, series of 2019 that institutionalized the annual celebration of International Indigenous Peoples Day in the city and other institutionalized events of the local government.
Under Resolution No. 504, series of 2023, local legislators reminded the city Administrator’s Office t6o closely coordinate such institutionalized events with various offices of the local government and regional line agencies for their swift implementation and execution of whatever programs that had been prepared for said celebrations.
The council pointed out that providing financial support for the various institutionalized events and activities like the other official cit6y activities shall warrant their implementation for the benefit of the whole city.
Ordinance No. 87, series of 2019 was passed to strengthen the cooperation of the indigenous peoples groups and non-indigenous peoples from the Cordillera region and other parts of the country with regards to their culture, education, health, human rights, environment and social and economic development.
During the supposed celebration, there are numerous events that are being conducted that showcase the rich culture and uniqueness of the city known for and recognized by other local government units and private institutions as it is considered the melting pot of various cultures.
The council requested the office concerned to initiate in carrying out and execution of the funded city events to allow the greater participation of all concerned sectors.
Copies of the approved resolution will be transmitted to the concerned offices of the local government for their information, guidance, ready reference and further needed action.
