BOKOD, Benguet – A 37-year old woman and his husband were hurt during a shooting and hacking incident that transpired in a store at Nawal here recently.
Senior Superintendent Floratne Camuyot, officer-in-charge of the Benguet Provincial Police Office, identified the victims as Elsie Espara Peter, 37 and Destin Berting Peter both residents of Nawal, Bokod, Benguet.
Initial police investigation showed the suspect, Timber Tacio Basta, 43, single, also a resident of Barangay Nawal, Bokod, Benguet, together with some companions were having a drinking spree in the store of the Peter coupled when a misunderstanding erupted between the suspect and a certain Felimon Aroco tht resulted to a scuffle with the latter advising him to go home.
The suspect then came back armed with an air gun and shot Aroco but missed hitting Ms. Peter on her legs.
After seeing the incident, Mr. Peter then grabbed a bolo and chased Basta that resulted into a scuffle which resulted to the various injuries of the former.
The husband and wife were rushed to the Benguet General Hospital (BeGH) for medical treatment while the suspect was able to flee from the crime scene and now the subject of a manhunt operation.
