TABUK CITY, Kalinga – To improve service delivery, the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO) is set to begin the assessment and monitoring for child development workers this month.
For this assessment, the following areas indicated in the Early Childhood Care and Development (ECCD) program will be used such as health, nutrition and safety; physical environment and safety; interactions and relationship between staff and children, among children, and other adults; staff qualification, staff development, and continuing education.
Curriculum, instruction, and assessment are also covered, as are family engagement and community ties, leadership, program management, and support.
Social welfare officer Judith Kay Sangdaan stated, during the orientation on the assessment and monitoring of service providers on social welfare programs held today at Laoagan Inn, that this assessment will evaluate each child development worker’s performance to identify areas for improvement.
She continued by saying that the assessment process will also help to maintain a happy and safe atmosphere for daycare kids while making sure that only appropriate activities are offered and that good values are instilled.
Social welfare officer Melody Dulawen, who oversees the CSWDO’s Planning Division, emphasized that the work that child development workers do—which typically entails attending to children’s physical and emotional needs as well as supporting their education and imparting new skills as appropriate for their age and needs—deserves admiration. She also noted that the upcoming assessment will greatly assist the 116 daycare workers in maintaining their level of commitment.
Kate Silawon, a statistician, presented the Social Welfare Development legislation for children during the event, and Beverly Grail Alvester, a day care monitor worker, lectured about the assessment and monitoring tool of child development centers based on the form attached in the Child Friendly Local Governance Audit.
Napoleon Ayang-ang, representing Mayor Darwin C. Estrañero, in his message, highlighted the crucial role of child development professionals in providing engaging and instructive activities to kids, giving them nutritious snacks and keeping the atmosphere clean for them.
