Baguio City- The Department of Education-Benguet Division conducted colloquium on action research and innovation at Ecolodge Magsaysay, Baguio City on June 19-21, 2019 as announced in the Division Memo No. 160 s. 2019, with 120 teachers in Mathematics, English, Araling Panlipunan, Technology and Livelihood Education from different schools in the division in attendance.
The said seminar-workshop aimed to equip participants with knowledge and skills on action research and innovation and as a venue for teachers to present their researches and innovations for other teachers to benchmark.
Wilfred Bagsao, Education Program Supervisor in Math, oriented the participants while Crisanta Pantaleon, Education Program Specialist in the Planning, Policy and Research Division in the region, deliberated on the Basic Education Research Agenda (BERA).
Meanwhile, Apler Bansiong of Benguet State University motivated the participants to craft proposals on action research and innovation, encouraging the participants to involve the affective domain, not solely enhancing the academic performance of learners.
The afternoon ran in parallel sessions with the Math, TLE and ALS teachers in Group A while English and Araling Panlipunan made up Group B. Mack Dalay-on, Elmerine Panagan, Agnes Malinias, Decenia Cabacab, Gary Luis shared their work as Group A while Shaina Cabuten, Dolores Fidel, Rosita Bosantog, Edgar Tomino and Imelda Espiritu for Group B.
On the second day, Jomar Palileng for Group A and Mark Aljon Valenciano for Group B spoke on how to implement action research while Bagsao discussed on Innovation and its parts to both groups.
Furthermore, Jardson Onio for Group A and Wilma Adawan for Group B tackled the statistics side of research on the last day.
As per Division Memo No. 160, 120 Science, Filipino, Values Education, MAPEH and half of ALS teachers will constitute the second batch of trainees on July 1-3 at the same venue.
