Department of Education- Under the leadership of Undersecretary Diosdado M. Antonio, the Office of Undersecretary for Curriculum and Instruction (OUCI) through the Bureau of Curriculum and Development (BCD) launched the Circle of Innovators for learning (CIL) in DepEd Community on Feb. 23-24 through Microsoft Teams.
Alma Ruby C. Torio, Assistant Secretary for Curriculum and Instruction shared few of Curriculum and Instruction (CI) Initiatives like DepEd Teaches that features informative talks on education and SAFE-CI (Secretary’s Award for Education- Curriculum and Instruction) that recognizes best practices in the department.
Meanwhile, Jocelyn DR Andaya, Regional Director IV stated the rationale of CIL and how it was anchored to the Philippine Innovation Act (Republic Act No. 11293). She reiterated, “The goal of CIL is to inculcate the culture of innovation by acknowledging exemplary innovators for learning in the DepEd Community and uphold innovations which are replicable and scalable to influence the quality of Philippine or global education”.
On the other hand, Diosdado M. Antonio, Undersecretary for Curriculum and Instruction encouraged everyone to innovate and make authentic learning happen especially to the disadvantaged learners and those with special needs. “When creative minds are gathered, innovations will flourish”, he stated.
Moreover, Dr. Edizon A. Fermin lectured on new pillars in innovation namely reasoning, resilience and responsibility. He observed that, “It took a pandemic to rewire us all but it reconnected us in a way”. “Create circles of innovation to expand spheres of influence and yield more ripples of change”, he added.
Reportedly, innovators in the country submitted 6-minute video presentations concurrent to the consultative workshop last Feb. 15-16. The launching likewise celebrated these innovations of corps of exemplary innovators in the new normal.
