A team from DOST-CAR and respective Provincial S&T Centers (PSTC) in Apayao and Abra turned over units of Science and Technology Academic and Research-Based Openly Operated KioskS (STARBOOKS) to selected schools, as part of the Science for the People Caravan in the two provinces.
In Luna, Apayao, one unit STARBOOKS each were turned over to the Upper Atok Elementary School (with solar panel system) and Malayugan Elementary School, from which 11 teachers, and a teacher from the Apayao Community Learning Center in Cabugao, Apayao, joined the orientation and training on December 1, 2021, in coordination with the Department of Education (DepEd)-Apayao.
Meanwhile, 36 teachers and school personnel from the Abra High School (AHS), Alangtin Elementary School (AES) and Batayan Primary School (BPS) converged at the AHS campus in Bangued, Abra for the ceremonial turnover and users’ training on December 3, 2021, in coordination with DepEd-Abra.
Aside from each unit of the digital library in AES and BPS, a solar panel system will be provided, as component of the Community Empowerment through Science and Technology (CEST) program in the town of Tubo, Abra.
STARBOOKS is a stand-alone information source designed to reach those with limited or no access to Science and Technology information resources.
