KAPANGAN, Benguet – The Kapit-Bisig Laban sa Kahirapan-Comprehensive and Integrated Delivery of Social Services (KALAHI-CIDSS) program of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Regional Program Management Office of the (Marinduque, Romblon and Palawan (MIMAROPA) region and the Palawan provincial government embarked on a learning visit to three barangays in Kapangan who successfully implemented the DSWD KALAHI-CIDSS National Community Driven Development Program. The visited barangays were Taba-ao, Datakan, and Pongayan.
Led by their community development officer Claire Panganiban, Team MIMAROPA had fruitful discussions with the local government officials and community volunteers during the focused group discussion. They expressed deep appreciation for the valuable insights and good practices shared by the community volunteers throughout the implementation of the sub-projects and their continued commitment to sustainability, even after completion.
The primary objective of the visit was for the team, particularly the members of the Multi-Stakeholders Inspectorate Team (MSIT), to gather innovative practices from different regions that can be adopted or replicated in their own municipalities. Panganiban highlighted the importance of the MSIT’s active participation and support in monitoring and ensuring the sustainability of all implemented projects in their respective areas.
Further, the Community Driven Development Ordinance of Asipulo, Ifugao, being one of the best practices in Cordillera, was presented and discussed to the participants in a separate venue.
The learning visit serves as an inspiring platform for collaboration and knowledge exchange, ultimately strengthening collective efforts in community development and uplifting the lives of fellow Filipinos. By DSWD-CAR
