BUGUIAS, Benguet – A 47-year old farmer died after he accidentally fell on a 5-feet deep canal while on his way home at Mansoyosoy, Catlubong, here, Wednesday.
Police authorities identified the fatality as Benson Begis Bantasan aka Cayat, 47, married farmer and a resident of Mansoyosoy, Catlubong, Buguias, Benguet.
Initial police investigation showed that the victim was fetched by his wife in a billiard hall in the place of incident but he refused to go home with her but gave her his bag and car key before she left.
The following morning his wife was surprised to hear about the report that the lifeless body of her husband was found lying face down in a canal in the place of incident.
Probers found traces that the incident could have been an accidental fall while he was on his way home from the billiard hall considering that witnesses claimed that there was no untoward incident that transpired between the victim and his companions inside the billiard hall.
