In our time, the man-made social standard, we have this scale of First to Last. This social standard gives much favor and high praise to those “First”.
This creates the idealism and aspiration to strive to be the “First”. Nothing is wrong with this because it’s God’s mandate for us to be the version of ourselves!
What makes it wrong is attaining to be the “First” by all means even to the extent of committing wrong action/sin.
Common nowadays, we use and abuse or even sacrifice others for our own self-vested ambition. Our selfishness was often evident in our daily activities- We dramatically cut the pie into eight slices in the eyes of the public but after cutting behind the scene we kept the seven slices for our own self and few who are favored. The last slice plus the crumbs are for the many who are unfavored.
This gospel is an anti-dote for us to re-examine our purpose in life! As our point of reflection: Jesus is offering us equally “one silver coin” thus, there is no point in competing to be the first- but rather let us help & collaborate.
We push each other going up, and those who are on top pull those who are below who pushed you up. By such we will have all our “one silver coin” at the end of the day.
Anyway, one silver coin is Heaven! Thus, let us take pause and think- what is the point of going First or high up in the man-made social status if we will not be given “One silver coin”?
It is far better to be the last, what is important at the end of earthly life we gain the favor of Thou to be at His Kingdom.
By collaborating in doing good, we can all have our wage of one silver coin!
