FLORA, Apayao – 15 individuals from Flora, Apayao underwent training to produce organic concoctions and extracts as means to create new products made from the localities produced.
The said training which started on June 30 and finished July 12 this year is made possible through partnership of Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) and Flora Agri-Tourism Farm.
The said training was held in Sitio Katarawan, Bagutong Flora, Apayao, and was part of the Special Training for Employment Program (STEP) scholarship initiative of the TESDA for qualified individuals, aiming to enhance their employability and promote entrepreneurship.
The training program encompassed a comprehensive curriculum, covering various aspects of organic agriculture production.
Benedicto Biato, TESDA Supervising Specialist, emphasized the significance of organic agriculture in promoting sustainable development and mitigating the adverse effects of conventional farming practices.
“We are supporting the growth of the agricultural sector, by equipping these interested individuals with necessary skills,” he stated. Biato also highlighted that the trainees would receive payment throughout the duration of the training.
The scholarship, offered under the Training for Work Scholarship Program in Organic Agriculture Production NC II, benefited 15 trainees. The participants received a daily allowance of ₱160 for the entire 11-day training period, distributed in two installments of 50%.
The participants expressed their appreciation for the chance to learn from field experts and acquire practical skills that could be applied to their local agricultural practices. By Michelle O. Acantilado
