SADANGA, Mountain Province – A Grade 5 pupil died after he allegedly shot himself inside the house of his grandfather with the use of the latter’s firearm at Bekigan, here, Wednesday afternoon.
Police authorities was said to be an 11-year old Grade 5 pupil of the Bekigan Elementary School at barangay Bekigan, Sadanga, Mountain Province.
Probers disclosed that the victim and his 9-year old brother were playing inside the house of their grandparents when the victim saw the caliber .22 firearm of his grandfather inside the said house.
The siblings reportedly played with the said firearm until it accidentally fired of hitting the victim.
The victim was provided with first aid by responding authorities, but he allegedly expired because of the fatal gunshot wound on his body.
The victim’s remains were immediately brought home by their parents and family member in barangay Dang-dang, here where he will be provided with a decent wake and burial.
The Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office took temporary custody of the victim’s younger brother for him to be provided with the necessary intervention after the said tragic incident.
The firearm that was used in the said incident was surrendered to the Sadanga Municipal Police Station for proper disposition. By Dexter A. See
