You can be happier if you know how to manage stress, or better yet, get rid of the unnecessary stresses of life. Last Sunday, we talked about the first idea: Simplify your joy. Today, let us focus on the second idea: Share your stock.
You have to share your stock. One of the roots of stress is having a lot of stuff that you have to stock, at times, you even have to buy some stuff to stock your stuff. That’s silly. And yes, stressful! How can you get rid of this? Simple. Share your stock.
Here’s what you can do: Look at those stuff in your life that you are not using anymore. And share them rather than waste by letting them just sit somewhere there.
If there are stuff that are stock in your cabinets or rooms that are not being used for 6-12 months already, maybe you want to dispose it. Either you donate it or dispose it. Share it to people who may be able to use it. Are there clothes, bags, and other items that you are not using? Consider sharing them.
In the past years, I have been receiving magazines from Toastmasters and Kerygma. These are wonderful magazines. After reading them, I would stock them in a box because I want to read them again in the future. But two years ago, I realized that I am wasting them because I am not actually re-reading them. They were just there gathering dust.
So I resolved that instead of letting them sit in the corner, I decided to give them away. I shared them to some friends and members of my audiences every time I give talks and trainings. Through this, there will be more people who will benefit from them as they read those educational, inspiring, and empowering articles and stories.
I also started giving away some key chains that I have been collecting, even some of those that were given to me. In the past, I would not give away things that were given to me because of the sentimental value attached to them. But then I have to have this mindset shift: While I treasure these things and I value the person who gave them, if they no longer serve life as they stay with me, I’d better share them to extend the benefit of the gift.
Last year, I also gave out shirts that no longer fit me. As a child, I was a beneficiary of those “pre-loved items” and I remember happily using them because they are still good and even enhanced my good looks (at least, as what I thought). Sharing your stock is not just a way to be free from stress but it can also be a means to pay forward.
With less stock comes less clutter, and thus, less-stress. You are able to put away those extra items that are disturbing you whenever you work and be in your creative sessions. You will be more efficient and organized. You will be free from the stress of having to think where you should pile them up so they won’t disturb you or utilize spaces in your room or closet.
Share your stock. Create that needed blank space for enhanced efficiency and creativity. Dispose or donate those that you are not using and relieve yourself of the unnecessary thoughts and time to tidy things up. Go, live a vibrant life!
One last thing: stop stuffing. We will talk about this idea next Sunday. De-own and discover more joys of life. Enjoy!
