ITOGON, Benguet – The municipal government recently received from the San Roque Power Corporation (SRPC) a brand-new patient transport vehicle to boost the transport requirements of dialysis patients undergoing treatment at the newly established dialysis center in sitio Malasin, barangay Ucab here.
Mayor Bernard S. Waclin received from SRPC officials the donated patient transport vehicle which will be immediately deployed for use at the dialysis center, especially in ferrying the patients from their residences to the facility and vice versa.
Earlier, the SRPC donated to the municipal government one hemodialysis machine that is now being used at the dialysis treatment center which is now servicing some 36 patients regularly in the said center.
The donation by the SRPC of the brand new patient transport vehicle came after Mayor Waclin jokingly informed SRPC officials during a previous occasion where ranking SRPC executives were present that the municipal government still needs an ambulance purposely to transport patients of the dialysis center.
Itogon is the first local government to establish a locally-owned dialysis treatment center that will cater to the dialysis treatment of patients from the town’s nine barangays to help decongest the existing dialysis centers in nearby Baguio City.
Relatives and family members of dialysis patients who are now availing of the services of the newly established dialysis center expressed their gratitude to the municipal government under the able leadership of Mayor Waclin for such an initiative to provide convenience to them and the patients.
Among the other private companies and religious institutions that extended assistance to the municipal government for the realization of the put up of the dialysis center include the Metro Church of God International (MCGI), the SN Aboitiz Power Benguet and the Itogon Suyoc Resources, Inc. (ISRI).
He added that there are still private individuals and companies that signified their intention to extend assistance to the municipal government for the sustained operation of this local government-owned facility to ensure the convenience of patients when undergoing treatment.
For patients undergoing dialysis treatment in the said facility, Rep. Eric Yap assured the supply of burger and juice until December 31, 2023 following its full blast operation that took effect during the middle of October.
Yap lauded the efforts of Itogon municipal officials for prioritizing the establishment of a local government-owned dialysis treatment center following the increasing number of patients from the municipality who are availing of the said services in existing dialysis centers in nearby Baguio city which are often congested, thus, inconveniencing patients who have to wait for their turn to be treated for their chronic kidney ailments.
