LUNA, Apayao – Governor Elias C. Bulut Jr has received PhP53M worth of agricultural interventions from the Department of Agriculture-Cordillera (DA-CAR) as assistance to identified Egay affected farmers in the province in a turn-over ceremony on December 11, 2023 in Baguio City.
The DA conveyed that such aid is aligned with the rehabilitation and recovery program for typhoon Egay hit farmers, through the Quick Response Fund (QRF) to help farmers recover from their agricultural losses.
To recall, Typhoon Egay affected a total number of 11,229 farmers across the province.
DA-CAR has relayed that the assistance will be disbursed to the identified numbers, and shall receive various agricultural interventions. DA-CAR said the PhP53M aid comprised 1,762 packs of hybrid seeds, 8,348 Genetically Modified Organisms (GMO) hybrid corn seeds, 967 rolls High Density Polyethylene (HDEP) pipes, various high-value crop vegetables, 2000 ducks, and 2000 heads of ready-to-lay eggs chickens.
Meanwhile, Bulut expressed gratitude for the assistance extended by the DA-CAR to Egay-affected farmers in Apayao and hoped that the incessant partnership with the agency will be sustained, towards the attainment of a more resilient society. By PIO Apayao
