ONE Championship has just confirmed that the fourth match between Kevin Belingon and Bibiano Fernandes will indeed take place this October 13, 2019 at Tokyo, Japan during ONE: Century.
The bout is slated to settle once and for all the pair’s dispute for ownership of the ONE Bantamweight World Championship after Fernandes reclaimed the title last March 31, 2019 under dubious circumstances.
Belingon got disqualified by inadvertently hitting the back of the head of the then challenger during a ground and pound action. Belingon was issued a red card, handing Fernandes was the Bantamweight title.
Fernandes won their first meeting by a first round submission in a title defense bout held in Changsha, China on January 2016 where he retained his title.
Belingon outlast the defending champion in their second bout last November 9, 2018 in Singapore to unify the interim and world ONE Bantamweight World Championships.
The win ended the long reign of Fernandes, who was then considered by ONE as the most dominant champion the promotion has ever seen. Before that fight, Fernandes was undefeated since 2010, racking up 14 consecutive victories.
Belingon is currently sporting a 20-6 record, 8 on them coming by way of knockouts and 3 by submissions. His twin losses to Fernandes are the only dents he got in his last 10 fights.
On the other hand, Fernandes has 23-4 with 2 knockouts and 8 submission victories.
