KABUGAO, Apayao – Arl Dave Dangao Portacio successfully passed the January 2024 Architect Licensure Examination (ALE), becoming the first-ever known architect who was born and raised in the Municipality of Kabugao.
A graduate of Saint Louis University (SLU), Baguio City, and a Board Passer of the Master Plumber Licensure Examination in February 2023, Portacio shared his accomplishment on Facebook on January 31, 2024.
In his post, Portacio expressed happiness of being the first architect in Kabugao, highlighting the challenges of forging his own path. He emphasized the hard work and dedication that went into achieving this milestone, noting the lack of predefined routes.
“To be honest, I’m happy being the first, I always wanted to be the first, but the road was never easy, there was no path for me to follow nor a certain format, to begin with, but being the first made me no choice but to continue and start from scratch, it was pure blood and sweat and now I finally paved a way for those who are aspiring to become architects someday and to carve a path for others who dares to follow,” he said.
Portacio views his journey as an uphill climb, akin to a mountain, and believes his success opens doors for future aspiring architects.
“Looking back on my journey, I could compare it to a mountain because literally it was an uphill climb and to be where I am now is a blessing, I worked extra hard to get that AR. before my name and RMP after it. And I deserve it, I deserve good things too,” he added.
As he steps into the next phase of his professional career, the province celebrates Portacio’s achievements and eagerly anticipates the positive impact he will bring to the industry. By M. Legaspi
