TABUK CITY, Kalinga – Rep. Allen Jesse C. Mangaoang vowed to strive to give justice to his representation of the people of Kalinga in Congress by doing the best he can to support the education sector.
The 2-term lawmaker underscored that education is closest to his heart as he owes the honor and privilege where he is now to the holistic educational upbringing that molded him to become a sincere and dedicated public servant.
Mangaoang served as the guest of honor and speaker during the recent 27th founding anniversary and 4th University Charter Day of the Kalinga State University (KSU) where he announced with the same passion, KSU shall always be part of his legislative and development road map.
“KSU is entrenched in the annals of my family history and the same history shall serve as my inspiration to help you carry this institution towards new heights,” Mangaoang stressed.
Presidential Decree 2019 issued on January 26, 1986, established the Kalinga-Apayao State College and on December 15, 2015, KSU was conferred its university status by virtue of Republic Act (RA) 7722 which was through the efforts of the late Kalinga Rep. Manuel S. Agyao.
He pointed out that through the academic reforms that are being instituted, KSU aims to bridge the communication brought about by lack of education and illiteracy and through the institution’s trailblazing research programs, KSU would provide what science could best provide, that is, to harness scientific knowledge to enhance the technical capabilities of people and build bridges through extension programs to help capacitate communities to tame the widening economic gap between the most privileged and the marginalized farmers.
Mangaoang disclosed that with all things that have been put in place in the institution over the past three decades, it is not surprising to witness the high pedestal KSU has reached in the fields of academic, research and extension.
He extended his congratulations to the institution for the scholarly works of the researchers which have generated interest in the local, national and international research symposia, as KSU continues to shine in the global arena in the field of education, especially with its scholastic achievements producing graduates passing exams with grades above the average passing rate.
More importantly, Mangaoang greeted the institution for achieving Level III accreditation for state universities and colleges in the school’s academic programs.
However, he asserted that no ranking or statistics can reflect the true spirit that KSU embodies and that the true testament to KSU’s success remain with the people that have been part and are still part of the university’s continuing journey to success.
According to him, KSU has been an institution conceived of and remains central to the idea of not just academic excellence but also of research and extension both at the local, national and global levels.
