TABUK CITY, Kalinga – A housewife died on the spot after being hit by a dump truck along the Kalinga – Mountain Province National Road in FF Cruz Bulanao, Tabuk City, Kalinga at around 7:55 AM on August 30, 2021.
Traffic Management Unit – Tabuk Chief Police Lieutenant John Macli-ing identified the victim as a certain Criscensia Dupli,54, and a resident of FF Cruz Bulanao, Tabuk City. The driver of the truck is identified as Albino Asoy, 27, and a resident of Dangoy, Lubuagan, Kalinga.
According to the Police, the truck was coming from the direction of Barangay Bulanao proper going to Calanan when the incident happened. The victim was on her way to the store past 7 o’clock in the morning and she was walking on the roadside when she was suddenly hit by the approaching truck.
Dupli sustained serious injuries and was rushed by the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) Kalinga to Kalinga Provincial Hospital (KPH) but was declared dead on arrival at around 8:10 in the morning.
Asoy, the driver, who went to the Traffic Management Unit office in Appas to surrender himself claims that the victim was planning to cross the road and he stopped to give her a chance to do so. But when the woman didn’t, he continued driving and it was then he noticed that the victim was hit by the left rear tire of the truck.
