LA TRINIDAD, Benguet – Two watch listed drug personalities fell into the arms of the law during a search conducted by combined anti-narcotics agents of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency Cordillera and local police yesterday at Bangbangar, Bangued, Abra.
Arlene Castillo Landa alias Liberty, 43 years old and a resident of Bangbangar, Bangued, Abra and Jeffrey Bisares Nuñez alias Ekong, 39 years old and a foreman of a local electric cooperative were arrested after PDEA-CAR agents found prohibited drugs and paraphernalia in their residence during a valid search.
Confiscated during the operation were seven heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets containing suspected shabu with an estimated street value of P35,000.00, several drug paraphernalia, an Armscor caliber 45 pistol and a magazine containing five live ammunition.
Cases for violation of Section 11 (Possession of Dangerous Drugs) and Section 12 (Possession of Drug Paraphernalia), Article II of Republic Act Number 9165 otherwise known as the “Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002” will be filed against the suspects. They will also be charged with cases for violation of Republic Act Number 10591 or the “Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act”.
