TABUK CITY, Kalinga – The City Health Services Office (CHSO) awarded Malalao as the healthiest barangay among the 43 barangays in the city during the Search for Healthiest Barangay this year as part of the Nutrition Program of the city government. Malalao also received a cash prize amounting to PhP10,000.00 from the city.
Barangays Lanna and Magsaysay garnered the second place with a cash prize amounting to PhP 7,500.00 and third place with a cash price of PhP5,000.00 respectively.
Barangay Dagupan Centro also earned the Sustainability Award for maintaining the barangay health for three consecutive years receiving a cash prize of PhP10,000.
According to the CHSO, the barangays were judged based on the criteria composed of Good Governance (36%) consisting of barangay support, implementation of plans and ordinances, budget support for social services and infrastructure including establishment of barangay offices.
Another criterion was the Service Delivery (64%) consisting of availability of health services and sanitation, nutritional status of its population, health practices implementation, maternal and child mortality rate and sustained Gulayan sa Paaralan.
The barangays were assessed and judged by the personnel from the technical and sanitation division of the CHSO.
Present during the awarding were Acting Vice Mayor Dick Bal-o, OIC at the Vice Mayor’s Office Councilor Lucretina Sarol, Councilor Abraham Licaycay, IPMR Vicente Martinez, Health Officer Henrietta Bagayao, CLGOO Helen Lacuesta, and CHSO staff.
