TABUK CITY, Kalinga – A 46-year old man died after he allegedly drowned in a deep portion of the Chico river when the wooded boat they were riding allegedly flipped at barangay Naneng, here, Sunday.
Police authorities identified the fatality as Robert Gupa-al Tocyapao, 46, married and resident of barangay Balinciagao, Pasil, Kalinga.
Initial police investigation showed that the victim, together with 7 other companions, were on board a wooden boat and were crossing the Chico river when the boat allegedly flipped that prompted his companions to swim for safety while he was not able to do so that caused him to be carried away by the strong water current.
His lifeless body was later recovered by responding rescuers at Sitio Balatoc Balani, barangay Lucog, Tabuk City, Kalinga.
The remains of the victim was brought to their residence for him to be given a descent wake and burial.
