PUDTOL, Apayao – A 28-year old man died after he allegedly hanged himself using a nylon cord inside his room at sitio Mahugani, barangay Capanikian, here, recently.
Senior Superintendent Felix Dayag, officer-in-charge of the Apayao Provincial Police Office, identified the alleged suicide victim as Gerald Agonoy Mendoza, 28, married and a resident of sitio Mahugani, barangay Capanikian, Pudtol, Apayao.
Initial police investigation showed that the victim reportedly called her aunt and informed her of his desire to commit suicide after her wife and two kids left him.
Alarmed over what happened and about the call she received, his aunt instructed her nephews to go and check what happened to the victim.
Upon arriving in the victim’s house, his brothers forcibly opened the door of the house and they were surprised to see the lifeless body hanging on the ceiling of his room with a nylon cord tied around his neck.
The victim was rushed by his relatives to the Pudtol District hospital for medical treatment but he was declared dead on arrival by attending physicians.
Responding police operatives and elements of the Scene of the Crime Operation (SOCO) team found that there were no signs of external injuries on the victim.
