BONTOC, Mountain Province – A 16-year old member of the New Peoples Army (NPA) voluntarily surrendered to police and military personnel in this capital town Saturday.
Senior Superintendent Allen S. Ocden, provincial director of the Mountain Province Police Office, only described the victim as a 16-year old student who hails from Bontoc, Mountain Province.
Aside from giving up subversive documents of the NPA, Ocden claimed the rebel returnee also turned over to the police and military operatives 4 cellphones, 3 Armalite rifles, cash and other writing paraphernalia.
She was said to be a member of the Leonardo Pacsi command of the NPA operating in the province for over 3 years.
Ocden disclosed that the rebel returnee voluntarily surrendered to the police and military because she was already tired of hiding from the long arms of the law and the alleged abuses committed by some of the NPA rebels on her.
After turning over the assorted items to the police and military, the amazon allegedly collapsed and was rushed to the Bontoc General Hospital for treatment and was declared to be in good condition.
Ocden appealed to the remaining NPA rebels to go back to mainstream society and enjoy the reign of lasting peace in the province.
