BONTOC, Mountain Province – Marking another landmark in its continuing pursuit of excellence, the Mountain Province State Polytechnic College (MPSPC) launched its knowledge products for extension on February 12, 2020, in line with one of its thrusts of coming up with excellent researches and relevant extension programs.
Arlene L. Flores, PhD, Training Superintendent of the Agricultural Training Institute- Cordillera Administrative Region (ATI-CAR), graced the event, underscoring the significance of developing youth involvement in agricultural entrepreneurship as an imperative role of state universities and colleges. She then conferred a certificate of recognition to the college for its active participation with the programs and projects backed by ATI-CAR in line with the institute’s 33rd anniversary.
The knowledge products launched and presented by the authors were as follows: 12 briefers of the various departments discussing the framework and extension services, one briefer of the college-wide extension office, and one project briefer of the Management Information Systems (MIS) Office; two policy briefs on Citizen Satisfaction Index System Study of Bontoc Local Government Unit, and Science and Technological Adaptation Practices toward Climate Change Resilient Rice-Based Agro-Ecosystem in Mountain Province, Philippines; catalogue of heirloom rice in Barlig and Bauko, Mountain Province; brochure, catalogue, and techno-guide video on the Disaster Risk Reduction of Climate Change Impact on Vulnerable Farms in Mountain Province project under the Science and Technology Action Frontline for Emergencies and Hazards (SAFE) program of the Cordillera Consortium for Agriculture, Aquatic and Resources Research and Development (CorCAARRD) and funded by the Philippine Council for Agriculture, Aquatic and Resources Research and Development (PCAARRD); promotional video of the college; and the Gameng di Sumyaan (Knowledge for Progress) magazine which features success stories of the various extension programs.
Moreover, Betty C. Listino, editorial consultant and trainer for the knowledge product development, discussed the milestones and lessons for reflection leading to the launching of the said products. She extended her congratulations to MPSPC and shared her insights on further challenges the institution is to encounter as it continues on independently in its research and extension endeavor
