TABUK CITY, Kalinga – The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI)-Kalinga honored owners of micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSME) in the province for their contributions to value-added activities, innovation, and inclusive growth through the creation of job opportunities and their widespread presence in both urban and rural areas.
The awarding ceremony was held at Golden Berries Hotel and Convention Center, which featured local business owners involved in food processing, weaving, and the creation of handicrafts and accessories, among other things.
In his message, DTI Provincial Director Renie Ramos emphasized the critical role MSME owners play in the expansion and advancement of the economy. Their inventiveness and entrepreneurship help to create jobs and are regarded as the foundation of the community’s economy.
He also praised the business owners for their efforts to promote their products by attending local, regional, and national trade shows resulting in investments, promotion and sales.
According to Aurelia Sanet, Trade and Industry Development Specialist, the activity was an informal means of exchanging stories. MSME owners share best practices and ideas with one another in order to grow and sustain their businesses.
As per her statement, the DTI had granted certificates of recognition to no less than eighty (80) MSME entrepreneurs in the province.
Prior to acknowledging MSME owners’ efforts in growing their selected businesses, these people participated in another DTI program called “Kapatid Mentor Me,” where they gained knowledge of business fundamentals like strategic planning, creativity, strong teamwork, and a customer-focused mindset.
