LA TRINIDAD – The National Irrigation Administration is inviting professional and amateur photographers to submit photos for the 3rd NIA Photography Competition, and students for the NIA Essay Writing Contest.
Both contests adhere to the theme of the NIA’s 56th founding anniversary celebration this June, “NIA 2019: Addressing Challenges through Modernization, Meeting Opportunities through Innovation.”
The 3rd NIA Photography Competition is a nationwide activity and has two categories-the conventional category includes photos taken using all types of traditional or conventional cameras like Single Lens Reflex (SLR) or Digital SLR, and compact cameras while mobile involves photos taken using apps in all types of mobile devices like smartphones and tablets. Anyone can join the Conventional Category, while only the NIA employees nationwide can join the Mobile Category.
Each participant is allowed to submit a maximum of two entries only, which should have been taken anywhere from January 2017 to May 2019. The entry to be submitted should be an image/photo with a corresponding photo title and caption indicating the place where the image was taken, and must have an accurate description of what the photo is about.
NIA will accept entries to the NIA National Photography Competition until May 22 at 12 noon only. The winner for the conventional category will receive P25,000 and for the mobile categories P20,000.00 while the winner of Most Popular Photo selected through online voting is P10,000.00.
Meanwhile, the essay writing contest is open to all high school/senior high school and college students nationwide who are currently enrolled. The essay must be written in standard American English in approximately 500 words and must be submitted to the email address of the nearest NIA regional office on or before May 15 to 29, 2019. For participants in the Cordillera Administrative Region, entries must be submitted to the email address caressaywritingcontest@gmail.com.
One winner shall be selected per region and shall receive P5,000.00 each. Winning entries from the regions shall be forwarded to the NIA Central Office, from which top three entries shall be selected. The first prize winner shall receive P15,000.00, second placer shall receive P10,000.00 and third placer, P5,000.00.
