BALBALAN, Kalinga February 17 – A 76-year old suspected member of the News Peoples Army (NPA) voluntarily surrendered to the elements of the 54 Infantry Batalion (PA) with his two firearms in sitio Liglig, Gawaan, here, recently.
Police authorities identified the rebel returnee as Pablo Wanason Lingbawan, 65, non-Periodic Status Report of Threat Group (PSRTG) listed, Milisyang Bayan (MB), and a resident Liglig, Gawaan, Balbalan, Kalinga.
The rebel returnee brught with him his calibre .45 and calibre .32 with one magazine each when he gave up to the military personnel.
He was subjected to the regular debriefing before being released while the firearms were taken by the military personnel for safekeeping and as evidence for the grant of financial assistance under the government’s Balik Baril program.
