The Office of Civil Defense – Cordillera (OCD-CAR) sets the formal inauguration and turnover of the Php 25 million Inter-Agency Warehouse on October 7 since the infrastructure was found to be operationally sound during a validation process last July 2022.
A timely accomplishment, according to OCD-CAR, as the construction of the warehouse for the Cordillera Regional Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (RDRRMC) coincides with President Ferdinand “Bongbong” R. Marcos Jr.’s directive, during his State of the Nation Address (SONA), to ensure that the government has strengthened disaster preparedness.
First to be established in the region, the newly constructed facility shall be used for the prepositioning of response assets, food and non-food items, as well as support and augment the resources of the provinces for areas affected by calamities in the northern part of the region.
“Not only will the warehouse cater to the provinces of Abra, Apayao, Ifugao, and Mt. Province but also to areas outside the province such as Cagayan and Isabela”, Governor and PDRRMC Chairperson James Edduba said during the 3rd Quarter Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (PDRRMC) meeting.
The Provincial Government of Kalinga and the City Government of Tabuk, the host city, are fully prepared to receive a number of high-ranking officials from the national government who will be coming to witness the turnover ceremony.
In a letter to Governor James S. Edduba, OCD-CAR Director Albert Mogul expressed his gratitude for his unwavering support of the building’s establishment up to its completion. By Cyrus Solbita and Mae Ann Padilla
