ILOILO CITY – The Cordillera Regional Development Council (RDC-CAR) participated in the 14th RDC Private Sector Representatives (PSRs) National Convention held recently at the Iloilo Convention Center in Iloilo City.
The convention, with the theme, Festival of H.O.P.E. “Harnessing Opportunities, Participation, and Empowerment”, aimed to enhance the partnership between the government and the private sector to achieve inclusive growth and development for the regions.
The RDC-CAR PSRs contributed in the discussions, shared their experiences and insights, and affirmed their commitments to support the government’s initiatives toward regional development. Particularly, they advocated for the passage of their proposed resolution supporting House Bill 7652 otherwise known as the National Land Use Bill, which was adopted by the body.
Around 200 participants from the different RDCs across the nation attended the three-day convention, which featured plenary and breakout sessions, and presentations from various government and private sectors. Topics covered themes on harnessing opportunities in innovation, start-up development, festivals as strategy for the growth and empowerment of people and communities, and creative industries through culture recovery and resiliency programs. Participants witnessed the various cultural presentations by the different state universities and colleges in the region and the province’s rich culture and history as they toured the different museums in Iloilo City.
The participation of the RDC-CAR PSRs in the convention provided them with new networks and valuable insights and learnings that they can apply in their respective sectors or provinces.
Overall, the convention demonstrated the importance of the private sector’s active participation in achieving the country’s development goals, particularly in promoting inclusive growth and sustainable development.
