Two shotguns and a mortar were recovered in separate incidents in Baguio and Abra.
The firs incident happened on or about 9:30 PM on August 29, 2018.
Punong Barangay Arthur D Carlos of Irisan, Baguio City turned-over to PS9, BCPO one (1) pistol type shotgun without serial number and with markings “78209” on its barrel, wrapped with black electrical tape on its blue handle and with one (1) gauge 12 ammunition placed inside a violet sling bag.
Subject firearm was turned-over to Mr. Carlos by his Barangay Tanod who allegedly recovered the said sling bag along Purok 25 San Carlos Heights, Irisan, Baguio City. The bag was believed to be left behind by a group of minors playing along the road.
Said firearm was documented by PS9, BCPO and was subsequently submitted at the City Operation Unit, BCPO for firearm verification and for proper disposition.
Later in the day, at about 12:30 PM of August 29, 2018, personnel of San Juan Municipal Police Station in Abra conducted dialogue at Brgy. Cabcaburao, San Juan regarding the campaign of PNP against loose firearms that led to the surrender of one (1) Homemade Gauge 12 back shot with one (1) cartridge case without markings by Brgy. Chairman Rodel Otlang Gavanez.
The said fire arm is now under the custody of San Juan MPS for documentation and safekeeping.
Finally, at around 1:40 P.M. of August 29, 2018, personnel of Baguio City Police Station 2 proceeded to Easter School, Central Guisad, Baguio City for police assistance regarding an incident where an alleged 81mm mortar round corroded was found along the mountainous compound of Easter School.
Same personnel engaged the Security Guard on duty, Happie P. Nicholas together with the responding EOD personnel from City Mobile Force Company led by SPO4 Jesse Rhey Bayan, to recover an 81mm round corroded mortar.
Said ammunition was was recovered by the guard on duty along the mountainous portion of Easter School and was turned-over to SPO4 Jesse Rhey Bayan, EOD personnel of City Mobile Force Company for proper disposition.
