TABUK CITY, Kalinga – Tragedy struck a family of three in Purok 6, Bulanao, after their house was engulfed in flames on Saturday night, leaving them homeless and bereft of all their belongings.
The siblings, identified as Renz Michael P. Golingan (23 years old), Macckley P. Golingan (20 years old), and Mayflore P. Golingan (17 years old and a person with disability), are orphans and were living independently in the residence with the support of their relatives.
On the night of August 19, at around 7:45 p.m., the fire swiftly consumed their house in a matter of minutes, leaving no time for any of their possessions to be salvaged. The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) Certification estimated the damages at PHP 288,000. Fortunately, there were no casualties, and all the siblings were unharmed.
Lhezzy Palattao, a cousin who witnessed the devastating incident, recounted that two of the siblings were outside when the fire broke out, and the eldest, who happened to be indoors, managed to escape the burning house in time. Although the exact cause of the fire remains unknown, early speculations point towards a lit candle as a possible cause of ignition.
Palattao said that as of date, the siblings have received aid from CSWDO, SWAD-Kalinga, NDRRMC, Basura Express, Kalinga Eagles Club (Batok), Red Cross Bulanao, Provincial Budget Office, and numerous individual volunteers.
Presently, the Golingan siblings are under the care of their relatives and are humbly appealing for support from compassionate individuals, whether in the form of financial aid or otherwise.
