BAGUIO CITY – The City Council Committee on Youth Welfare and Sports Development will conduct the 2018 sports summit on June 15, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Baguio City Hall Multi-Purpose Hall.
Committee chair Councilor Michael Lawana will facilitate the conference to be participated by representatives of the various sports organizations, players and other stakeholders.
Secretary to the Sanggunian Brenner Bengwayan said that with the summit, they expect to identify issues, concerns and priorities of the different sport disciplines and to consolidate them for possible legislative actions and measures.
They also expect to reconcile the various local laws and administrative issuances with those of the national laws especially clarifications on the grant of incentives, qualifications of recipients and the like.
The City Council also hopes to come up with enabling comprehensive legislative measure and rules and regulations on sports development and advancement for easy reference and compliance.
Finally, they aim to “encourage everyone to develop their skills, their character and their values through sports,” he said.
