TABUK CITY, Kalinga – The city government is intensifying its efforts to reinforce gender equality as a fundamental right through a ‘Focal Persons for Gender and Development (GAD)’ meeting on September 27.
Conducted by the City Population Development Office, the meeting aimed to bolster the commitment of the city government to promoting women’s rights and gender equality within its various offices.
During the meeting, different speakers from the City Population Office discussed updates on the list of focal persons, their roles and responsibilities in advancing gender mainstreaming, and the orientation and updating of different city government offices on GAD-related policy issuances, circulars, and laws. They also consulted with members regarding issues and concerns related to the implementation of GAD-related programs, projects, and activities.
Further, the meeting addressed issues and concerns that arise during the preparation and implementation of the annual GAD plan and budget, in accordance with Republic Act No. 9710, also known as the Magna Carta of Women.
The meeting is expected to result in improvements and enhancements in the GAD systems and processes, further enhancing services dedicated to women’s rights and empowerment within the city government.
Participants in the event included various department heads, division heads, city government staff, and other relevant stakeholders. By Ruth Cupang
