LAGANGILANG, Abra – A 27-year old barangay tanod died after he was repeatedly shot to death by still unidentified armed men inside his house at Balais, here, recently.
Superintendent Mark Pespes, officer-in-charge of the Abra Provincial Police Office, identified the fatality as Eddie Ammogong Alcantara, 27, single, Brgy. Tanood and a resident of Balais, Lagangilang, Abra.
Initial police investigation showed the victim’s father was on his way to his ricefield when he noticed that the door on his son’s house was slightly open.
When he went inside the house, he was surprised to see his son sprawled on the floor with blood oozing from the different parts of his body.
The victim was immediately rushed to the Abra Provincial Hospital for medical treatment but he was pronounced dead on arrival by attending physicians due to multiple gunshot wounds on the different parts of his head and body.
Responding police operatives and elements of the Scene of the Crime Operation (SOCO) team failed to recover any spent shell of the firearm used in the said incident, thus, the case is subject to further investigation.
