PEÑARRUBIA, Abra – A 25-year old tricycle driver was injured after he was allegedly shot by his own passenger who refused to pay his fare at Lusuac, here, Sunday.
Police authorities identified the victim as Benjie Beñas Borillo, 25, tricycle driver, and resident of Lipcan, Bangued, Abra while the suspect was named as Daryll Mercurio Bonna, 19, single, house caretaker, and resident of Sagsagod, Lusuac, Penarrubia, Abra.
Initial police investigation showed that the victim was able to pick up the suspect in Bangued and the latter requested that he be ferried to the place of incident.
Upon arrival in the said place, the suspect requested that the victim wait for his fare but after a few minutes, the suspect arrived, pointed a flashlight to his eyes, drew a handgun and fired at him twice hitting him on his ear.
The victim was able to immediately report the matter to the local police station and he was rushed by concerned police personnel to the Abra Provincial Hospital for medical treatment while the suspect was arrested during a hot pursuit operation.
Appropriate charges are now being readied by the local police force against the arrested suspect.
