LUNA, Apayao – Families of typhoon-hit Barangay Salvacion, Luna, Apayao received this August 10, food aid from the Office of Senator Christopher Lawrence “Bong” Go as an added help for them to get by while recovering from the disastrous experience.
A total of 500 Family Food Packs (FFPs) intended for affected residents of the said barangay were delivered. Kirvy James Camarillo, Sen. Go’s staff who led the distribution told the people how the Senator desires to help and that “Gustong iparating ni Sen. Bong Go na mahal na mahal niya kayo.”
“Hindi man gaano kadami ang aming ibibigay gusto lang namin na may pandagdag kayu sa araw- araw niyong pangangailangan,” Camarillo added.
Further, the team gave away sports equipment to the youth present in the distribution area.
Salvacion, a barangay with a huge presence of the indigenous Agta, was one of the heavily hit barangays of Luna in terms of agriculture during the onslaught of super typhoon “Egay” last month.
During the search, rescue, and retrieval operations of the Provincial Disaster Risk and Reduction and Management Office for the Cessna plane that crashed within the area earlier this month, Salvacion was also among the communities disturbed, with some of its residents volunteering in the said SRR efforts.
The beneficiaries expressed gratefulness for the help with one of the Agta leaders saying “Agyamanak kami ken Sen. Bong Go ken daytoy inmay na inpaay nga tulong.”
The officialdom of Apayao Congresswoman Eleanor C. Bulut-Begtang and Governor Elias C. Bulut Jr. likewise expressed overwhelming gratitude to Sen. Go and the team who personally brought assistance in this far-flung barangay of Luna. By Michelle Acantilado
