FLORA, Apayao – With the continuing efforts of the provincial government to provide communities with inclusive access to quality essential healthcare services and promote health awareness to the yApayaos, Project BUTSY (Bringing Universal health care services Towards Sustainable program implementation Yielding to a resilient YApayao) goes to Flora for its third stop on August 9, 2023.
The Provincial Health Office (PHO)-Apayao with members coming from various government agencies tapped to implement in full blast the UHC in the province brought medical and dental aid to the people in the said town.
The activity, which is part of the Universal Health Care (UHC) caravan, was done at Dr. Efren U. De San Jose Gymnasium.
To ensure that individuals and communities are informed of the concept and benefits of UHC, an orientation program was conducted for the main implementers that included municipal officials and employees, representatives from the academic community, barangay health workers, and barangay nutrition scholars. It was followed by a free dental and medical check-up.
Walking aids that include walking sticks, a cane, and a wheelchair were likewise awarded to eight members of the Person with Disabilities community.
“Pagyamanak la unay iti provincial government kadaytoy a regalo yo. Dakkel unay daytoy a tulong kanyak,” said Rosemarie Rigon from Anninipan, Flora, one of the recipients.
“The success of the UHC Caravan in Flora is another milestone towards achieving our ultimate goal of equitable health services for all. It sets a positive precedent for future endeavors, emphasizing the value of community engagement, health promotion, and access to health services,” Provincial Health Officer Mark Joleen Calban said for his part.
The caravan continued in Pudtol that same day and will proceed next week to the municipalities of Calanasan, Kabugao, and Conner. By Michelle O. Acantilado
