LA TRINIDAD, Benguet – Benguet Caretaker Congressman and Anti-Crime and Terrorism through Community Involvement and Support (ACT-CIS) Party-list Rep. Eric Yap underscored he wants the province to be popular not only in the national scene, but also globally, through various achievable means.
Yap, who chairs the powerful House Committee on Appropriations, stated that it is time that some personalities from Benguet should be occupying top positions in both the government and the private sector as there are many potential leaders who could be appointed to such positions.
Further, he claimed that aside from the vegetables being produced in the province that provide 80 percent of the country’s supply, it is also important for Benguet products to be given the appropriate promotions and marketing to continue elevating the province’s status in the global market.
The Benguet caretaker congressman pointed out that Benguet people should not be contented with what they are at present, but potential leaders must be motivated to strive hard to achieve the highest pedestal in their respective fields of profession to help bring honor and pride to the province and that he is also willing to extend a helping hand for the realization of their dreams and aspirations.
According to him, he learned to love the people and culture of Benguet and that is why he is working extra hard to continue promoting Benguet not only as a tourism destination, a food basket, but a source of leaders who can help propel the country’s economic.
Congressman Yap asserted it is for those reasons that he is trying his best to aggressively promote Benguet in the national scene to inform and educate Filipinos that Benguet is a worthy place to live, study, work and do business in because people are peace-loving citizens who value the importance of camaraderie, above anything else.
The lawmaker emphasized that Benguet deserves to be re-classified as a first-class province and he will help in realizing the same by infusing funds for the implementation of high-impact development projects that will contribute in ongoing efforts to spur economic activities in the countryside, aside from sustaining the effective and efficient delivery of various benefits from the different assistance programs of concerned government agencies.
Congressman Yap emphasized that the dreams and aspirations of the people of Benguet for the province to be further known as a haven of peace-loving people could be achieved through hard work and persistence of the present batch of local officials who have the foresight of elevating Benguet’s status not only in the national scene, but also in the global arena.
He argued that he is doing his part as an adopted son of Benguet to aggressively promote the province and to help in its overall development and that he wants Benguet to establish a distinct identity because it deserves more compared to what is currently getting from concerned government agencies.
