TUBA, Benguet – A senior citizen died while thirteen others were injured when a van rammed into a pick up and a sports utility vehicle which were descending along Marcos highway, particularly at sitio Salpang, barangay Taloy Sur, here, Monday afternoon.
However, police authorities refused to divulge the identities of the vehicular accident victims until such time that their families shall have been informed of what happened.
Probers disclosed that all involved vehicles, a van, a pick up and a SUV, were bound for the lowlands with the Ford pickup in from followed by the Toyota Fortuner and the Nissan van and upon reaching the place of incident, the van experienced a sudden mechanical defect and caused the same to lose its brakes leading to a series of collision in the place of incident.
The van allegedly sideswiped the SUV and then collided with the rear portion of the pickup, twisted and then rested on its side in the north bound lane.
The occupants of the van were immediately rushed to the Baguio General Hospital and Medical Center (BGHMC) by the responding personnel of the Tuba Municipal Police Station, the Tuba Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (MDRRMC), the Tuba Municipal fire station and other volunteers that responded to the crime scene.
Damages to the involved vehicles are yet to be determined by the vehicle owners.
Investigation is still going on to ascertain the real cause of the incident and who is responsible for the said incident. By Dexter A. See
