TABUK CITY, Kalinga – A 19-year old student died while his 18-year old back rider was injured after their motorcycle bumped an electric post along the Kalinga provincial road, particularly at Magsaysay, here, Thursday.
Police authorities identified the fatality as John Mark Lic-o Liwaliw, 19, single, student of CACT college while the injured back rider was named as Jojo Mabianan Gambito, 18, single, OSY both residents of Nasgueban, Barangay Magsaysay, Tabuk City, Kalinga.
Initial police investigation showed that the two individuals were no board a motorcycle driven by the victim when he allegedly lost control of the vehicle that caused it to ram the electric post on the side of the road.
As a result, the two motorcycle occupants were thrown off the vehicle and subsequently banged their heads and bodies on the concrete pavement thereby inflicting serious injuries on them.
The victims were immediately rushed by concerned residents and emergency responders to the Kalinga Provincial hospital for medical treatment but the driver was declared dead on arrival by attending physicians while the back rider was confined for further observation in the same hospital.
