A Soldier died while another was injured after goverment forces had an encounter with communist rebels at Barangay Aguid, Sagada, Mountain Province Thursday afternoon, September 26, 2019.
Police authorities identified the fatality as Cpl. Jordan Manawa while his injured companion was named as PFC. Melvin Ngodes.
Reports showed that members of the Philippine Army were patrolling the area when they chanced upon the still undetermined number of communist rebels that resulted to a running gun battle.
Hot pursuit operation is still underway in the area and its neighboring villages for the arrest of the fleeing rebels.
