BANGUED, Abra June 23 – Twelve more members of the New Peoples Army (NPA) rebels voluntarily surrendered to combined military and police authorities as a result of the intensified campaign of the government’s National Task Force to End Local Community Armed Conflict (NTF-ELCAC) in the country.
Reports from the Abra Provincial Police Office submitted to the Police Reginal Office (PRO) in the Cordillera identified the returnees as alias Edmar, 54; Solo,38; Mandag 60; Yaos/Sadem, 58; Melvin, 38; Bagwis, 42; Joker/Lindol, 38; Joker, 42; Yoyong, 63; Ranes, 35; Soli, 54; Wanti, 46 all from Abra Province and were under Agustin Begnalen Command and Antonio Licawen Command of Kilusang Larangang Gerilya (KLG) North Abra and KLG Abra, Mountain Province, Ilocos Sur (AMPIS).
Surrender of the twelve returnees were made possible after series of negotiations initiated by the joint operatives of from Benguet Provincial Police Office, Regional Intelligence Division (RID), Regional Mobile Force Battalion 15 (RMFB 15), and Abra Provincial Police Office.
Along with their return, they handed over 2 M16 rifles with 2 magazines and 2 caliber 45 pistol with 7 ammos; M2 Carbine rifle with SN:693511 with 1
magazine; M1 carbine with 1 magazine; improvised 7.62 bolt action rifle; STI EDGE caliber 45 pistol with 1magazine and 4 ammos; Smith and Wesson 357 magnum revolver with 5 ammos; 1 Caliber 45 pistol, 1 rifle grenade; and improvised 5.56 rifle with on 1 magazine and 3 ammos.
Further, all twelve returnees were under the custody of the Provincial Intelligence Unit (PIU), Benguet Provincial Police Office for evaluation and documentation at Manabo, Abra Province.
Thereafter, all surrendered assorted firearms and ammos were turned over to Provincial Supply and Accountable officer, Abra PPO.
As the surrenderees returned to the fold of law they will be included in the Government’s Program Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program (E-CLIP).
